The CDI Early Learning Center and Children’s Garden is a free, drop-in play and learning space that is an inclusive environment open to young children of all abilities, ages 0-6 years old, and families.
The CDI Early Learning Center (ELC) is a museum-quality, developmentally-appropriate play and learning space in Canoga Park. Created by Child Development Institute, the CDI Early Learning Center promotes healthy development for all young children and provides connection to community resources and opportunities to strengthen families.
Promoting Healthy Development For All Children
With a focus on nature and the benefits of nature in children’s healthy development, the ELC offers activities and special events that support your children’s social-emotional development and school-readiness through literacy, art, science, music, gardening, health and wellness activities that can be done with parents, caregivers, siblings, and new friends from the ELC.
Preventive Developmental Screenings & Connection to Community Support
As a parent, you may have questions about whether or not your child is reaching age-appropriate milestones. You might have concerns about your child’s healthy growth. At the ELC, CDI hosts free monthly developmental screenings for children. At these Screening Days, Early Childhood Education Consultants and other trained professionals use evidence-based screeners to identify developmental red flags. The consultants are also available to answer any question that you may have. If your child does need additional support, you will be connected with the necessary resources to get you and your family the support needed.
At the CDI Early Learning Center, we have strong partnerships with organizations throughout Canoga Park and are available to connect you with resources you may need. You can talk to a volunteer or support staff at the ELC or call 818-712-0453.
Become A Volunteer
The CDI Early Learning Center is run and facilitated by community volunteers (neighbors, highschool students, college service-learning interns, and more). All volunteers and interns are trained in family engagement and are a great way to build skills and work-experience working with families and doing outreach in the community.
We are always looking for new volunteers and would love to have you join us! View more information on volunteering.
